Premier Copper Products’ kitchen Apron sinks are made with high grade 99.7% pure recycled copper that is 14 gauge instead of the more commonly-used 16 gauge (the lower the gauge, the thicker the copper), making the sinks quieter and less susceptible to dents.  This quality also allows the artisan-made sinks to be troughed for proper drainage and creates a stable surface.  The hand-rolled corner construction, developed by Premier Copper Products, ensures that water and debris don’t get stuck into corners (sharp corners result from machine-bending).

Premier’s CEO Beau Ralphs says, “The hand-rolled corners are a key product advantage for consumers, and a quality detail that pays off in both the look and the daily use and maintenance of the sinks, making them much easier to clean – just rinse and walk away.”

Buyers can choose from 17 different styles and sizes of apron-front sinks – flat fronted, curved, or decorative, and 10 sizes and styles of traditional, under-mount sinks.  Premier Copper Products also makes one-off custom sinks based on  customer needs.

Ralphs reports that the trend for single bowl farm sinks is huge, with Premier’s single bowls outselling split bowls by 2 to 1.  He explains, “People like being able to pile all their pots and pans into one sink while they’re cooking or serving a meal – and that’s hard to do with a split bowl, people get frustrated when a large pan won’t fit in the sink.  Split bowls were a necessity when people were doing dishes by hand.  Now that everyone has a dishwasher and often a separate prep sink, the single bowl sink has become the ‘must have’. It just makes more sense in today’s world.”

Besides their singular beauty, copper sinks appeal to homeowners because of their environmentally-friendly qualities and ease of maintenance.

  • copper has well-documented anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties; bacteria on copper surfaces are shown to die within hours; on other surfaces, bacteria can live for days.
  • copper sinks are easy to maintain (clean with mild soap and warm water, allowing the user to avoid the use of harsh chemicals and pollutants)
  • scratches aren’t an issue: they will naturally blend back into the sink thanks to the copper’s regenerative patina.
  • copper is durable – a sink will last the lifetime of the home and beyond.
  • a copper sink will never end up in landfill but will be recycled for generations.

Apron sinks are solidly constructed with three 14-gauge supports that provide stability and integrity along the entire front edge of the sink.   The most popular sink in the range is a flat-fronted apron style single bowl sink, which retails for $1,199.  Premier has optimized its sink designs to be as functional as possible, providing the most usable space with the most efficient sizing, and all sizes fit neatly into conventional counters and cabinetry.  For example, under-mount sinks are 19” deep from front to back, to provide sufficient space for faucets.

The rich patina that is common to all Premier Copper Products is expertly tempered or ‘pre-aged’ by exposing the copper to fire. This brings out the natural, deep patina that gives the product its deep color and allows each kitchen sink to maintain its beautiful weathered or aged appearance over time. Every sink is made by hand, and hand-hammered by a team of artisans.  It can take several days to make just one sink.

Unlike many companies selling copper products, Premier doesn’t just buy finished goods from Mexico (or lower quality from India or China).  Instead, the company exclusively manages its factories in Mexico, controlling the manufacturing process and benefiting from the high level of craftsmanship and expertise available.  In exchange for their loyalty and hard work, local artisans and their families are assured of continuing work, and benefit from the company’s loyalty to them, along with the company’s investment in the community.  As a result, Premier ensures that quality and consistency are always top-notch.  Custom-made kitchen sinks, and other kitchen products like copper range hoods are often produced for clients wanting a unique design.

Products are always in stock and can be shipped overnight.  The company has more than 160 retail and web partners including Fergusons kitchen and bath showrooms nationwide.

Premier Copper Products is a family-owned company, based in Phoenix, Arizona, founded in 2004 by Beau and Sandra Ralphs. The love affair with copper began when they opened a store that sold home décor accessories. They soon recognized the unique appeal of the artisanal recycled copper pieces, especially for people wanting to incorporate premium eco-friendly, sustainable products into their homes.  From the outset, the Ralphs’ goal was to develop a quality range that was also affordable, so that all consumers could enjoy the beauty of copper kitchen, bar, and bath products.  Today the company sells an ever-growing range of 160+ products, including kitchen, bar/prep, and bathroom sinks, bathtubs, faucets, drains, light fixtures, switch plates, and tiles.

    • Beau says:

Yes, there is a small amount of zink used in our copper mix to make it more workable. It is the only other metal used in our alloy. Our product is lead free <.010.
